
9th Annual Spinal Cord Research
Benefit a Huge Success!
On April 5th, 2008, The Scott Remington Family
& Close Friends held their Annual Spinal Cord Research Benefit and
raised an incredible $41,900. This year's benefit was dedicated to
the memory of Michael L. Remington, Sr., aka "Unk", who passed away
suddenly on January 6th. Mike, Scott's uncle had an amazing spirit
and lived life to the fullest, all proceeds from this year's benefit
were donated in his honor to the Christopher & Dana Reeve
Foundation.
With over 500 people attending the event, 85 door prizes were given
out and an amazing 240 donated items were raffled off. A 50/50
raffle was held throughout the day and winner Steve White took home
the pot of $807. The big raffle winners consisted of: 1st prize:
Trip (donated in part by Liberty Travel) - Winner Shannon Phelps,
2nd Prize: Rustic Wine Table (donated by C.R.S. Rustic's) - Winner
John MacMillen, 3rd Prize: Adirondack Queen Size Headboard (Donated
by Abraham's Wood Lot Woodworks) - Winner Frank Witz, 4th Prize:
Chain Saw (donated by S.L. Bureau Wood Products) - Winner Sue Mead.
Entertainment for the afternoon was provided by Wendy Joy Hayes,
Paradise North, & Waldo's Farm. Appreciation awards were presented
by The Scott Remington Family & Close Friends to Amy Montgomery
(author of "Just An Accident) and Wayne Schlaeg (member of Paradise
North) for their continued support over the past years! A special CD
created by Will Jay, (cousin to Scott) touched the crowd as it
played on the big screen TV. The evening ended with music by Totally
Tuned DJ and dancing was enjoyed by all.
The Scott Remington Family & Close Friends is a non-profit
organization. All proceeds go to the Christopher & Dana Reeve
Foundation. All raffle items, door prizes, and entertainment were
donated. A special thank you to Jimbo's Club and all who donated and
helped make this year's benefit our best yet!!!
