"A Magical Evening"
On
November 12th, Scott, Renee and Christine Caunter were invited
guests to "A Magical Evening" at the Marriot Marquis in New York
City for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation fund raiser. The
event which raised 2 million dollars gave us an opportunity to meet
and speak with the three Reeve children, Matthew, Alexandra, and
Will, who deeply expressed their gratitude for all our support. The
night was full of wonderful surprises. First, an enjoyable cocktail
hour that allowed us to socialize with other paralyzed people and
even meet the paraplegic who patented the "Quickie" wheelchair. Then
there were a host of celebrities present, Robin Williams, Meryl
Streep, Diane Sawyer, Anne Hathaway and several others. To top it
all off, we were seated at a table with a team of research doctor's
and staff. Scott was able to meet these doctors and continues to
keep in contact with one of them and hopes to be a part of a
research trial in the future. The most amazing part of the night was
to see first hand the rewards of research as Marcia Daversa
paralyzed in March 2007 from an epidural walked across the stage. It
was a moment we will never forget.
